beyond salvation II: HARMONY

The MV Harmony will have gone by many different names. In her last few days at sea heading for the beach she may have been sold, renamed and reflagged to escape scrutiny, accountability and responsibility. Harmonised regulation could put an end to the scandal of the shipbreaking beaches, so the industry has worked in harmony to prevent it. Today it congratulates itself on the Hong Kong Convention, 16 years in the making, designed to accommodate not eradicate its toxic activities, protect profit at the expense of people and planet, and prevent anything rocking the boat.
