beyond salvation III: A Line In The Sand

A huge explosion rocks a nearby ship but the wire carriers running out the lines barely look up. Gas cutters rely on lines being purged of anything flammable, but when they cut them what’s left inside frequently ignites, together with the gas tanks they carry. The consequences are deadly. On 7th September 2024 six men died when the MT Suvarna Swarajya exploded, despite being certified gas-free for man entry and hot work by the Bangladeshi government, in a yard certified by Japan’s Class Society under the Hong Kong Convention that was meant to represent a line in the sand.
